I have chosen this subject for my science integration project since the idea of becoming a multi-planetary civilization is becoming an increasingly relevant topic. As such, it is crucial to revisit our means of propulsion. In other words, considering that we want to eventually travel on an interstellar level, we need to find a more efficient way to travel through space. Although my project does not directly answer a question. It does help to demonstrate and teach others about technology revolving around ion engines that might be used in the near future. My goal is to make people think deeper about the challenges we must face when travelling to other planets.
